I’m not sure how to describe what I’m listening to at the moment.
Hermeto Pascoal - Música da Lagoa (Sinfonia do Alto Ribeira, 1985)
Because I think this is the level of “weird” I miss.
Hermeto Pascoal is a Brazilian composer, multi-instrumentalist, and sound explorer, widely regarded as one of the most inventive figures in modern music.
He earned the nickname “O Bruxo” (The Wizard) for his ability to turn everyday objects and natural sounds into music.
Pascoal blends jazz, Brazilian folk, classical, and avant-garde elements, often using unconventional instruments such as water, glass, whistles, and his own voice alongside piano, flute, and accordion.
Música da Lagoa was recorded in 1985 for the documentary Sinfonia do Alto Ribeira, blending natural sounds, water, and unconventional instruments into a unique improvisational soundscape.
